When Ryan began racing competitively around his home state of Washington he displayed natural ability beyond his years. In 2005, Ryan won the AMA's Horizon Award, given annually to the sport's top amateur. Riding dirt bikes has always been the way for Ryan who is one of the most accomplished newcomers to enter SX / MX racing. He began his professional career racing in the 2006 AMA West SX Lites series and was voted the SX / MX Rookie of the Year. He has now gone on to add the 2006, 2007 & 2008 AMA MX Lites titles as well as the 2006, 2007 & 2008 MX of Nations titles with team USA.
